Tastes of Tequesta Tour Stop # 12

Evo Italian

Stop number twelve on Mayor Abby Brennan’s Tastes of Tequesta Tour was especially noteworthy when longtime Tequesta resident, Super Bowl III Champion and MVP, and 1985 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee Joe Namath joined her for dinner at Evo Italian. And what a dinner it was!

Evo’s owner, Chef Erik Pettersen, began the memorable evening by removing menus from the table and declaring that he was going to personally prepare a special meal for Joe and Abby. In traditional Italian fashion, dinner began with
Antipasto which included “Fiori Di Zucca” and “Le Polpette di Evo”, the former consisting of garden squash blossoms prepared with ricotta, Pecorino Romano cheese and San Marzano tomatoes. The Polpette, a classic Italian meatball, was made using Chef Erik’s family recipe of ground veal, beef, and pork. Zucchini Carpaccio served as the Insalata course followed by Joe’s favorite pasta dish, “Linguine Alla Vongole” (little neck clams, roasted garlic, white wine and Tuscanella olive oil). Then it was on to the “Seconde” or perhaps better stated, the “Secondes”! “Braciole Con Salsiccie E Polpette”, a dish made with Italian sausage, veal braciole and meatballs was served along with the “Scallops Special”, “Swordfish Livornese” and “Veal Madeira”. Fortunately, one of Joe’s friends was also at the table to help share the bounty! If that wasn’t enough, Chef Erik appeared with a dessert sampler that included homemade Tiramisu, whipped lemon zest cheesecake, cannoli, and a triple fudge Ghirardelli brownie.

Evo Italian offers indoor seating in the lounge and dining room, and outside on the patio. A private dining room is also available. Reservations are accepted and a full menu can be viewed online at www.Evoitalian.com. From the décor and ambience, to the food preparation and presentation, everything at Evo Italian is elegant. Yet Chef Erik is committed to making everyone feel comfortable and at home. He describes what he serves at Evo as “contemporary variations of my family’s secret recipes…traditional treasures with a fresh new twist.”
