News and Events
The Tequesta Police Department is hosting its first Chief-for-the-Day contest and calling for submissions from fourth and fifth grade students that reside within the Village of Tequesta.
The topic for your essay should be “Why I want to be Police Chief for a Day.” Students should be specific, use at least five hundred words, and of course, be creative! While there will only be one winner, all submissions will be hung throughout the Tequesta Police Department for the month of October (Crime Prevention month). The selected student will be picked up at his or her house on Thursday, October 27, 2016 (if convenient for our winner) by a patrol car and driven to the Police Department to spend the day serving as the honorary Chief of Police. Submissions will be reviewed by all PD members.
The selected candidate will participate in a swearing in ceremony, go behind the scenes for a tour of the Police Department, participate in a mock crime scene investigation, enjoy lunch with some of Tequesta’s finest and take part in other exciting activities. Students are asked to submit their entries by fax, email, mail in or drop off in person to the Police Department by Friday, October 14, 2016 at 5:00 PM.
The winner will be contacted and announced on October 19, 2016. Your submission authorizes the department to print your name and publish photos as the winning contestant.
For more information on the contest, contact Administrative Assistant Amber Krauss at 561-768-0505 or Corporal Emir Yildiz at 561-768-0544

Does the Village of Tequesta have a Needle Disposal Program to dispose of used needles, syringes and lancets (Sharps)?
Yes, our Fire Department handles "sharps" and the program is provided for the private sector only. The Fire Department has special containers and will also dispose of your used syringes and lancets in the approved container. There is a fee which includes the container and the disposal. There is a lot you can do to keep your neighborhood safe. Don’t wait for someone else to take the lead. Everyone in the community shares the responsibility for making our community safe. Report incidents to the police and become a better partner against crime!
The Village Council reminds you that no one knows your neighborhood better than you and your neighbors. And no one wants to protect it more than you do, except the police officers of the Tequesta Police Department. With teamwork between the residents and the Police Department, the emphasis can be on stopping and preventing crime before it happens.
