Steve Okun and his wife Cindy of 38 years, relocated from the Northeast twenty years ago, choosing to raise their 3 children in the Tequesta area. Steve attended Boston University along with The Price School of Advertising & Journalism and Hiram Scott College, earning degrees in motivational psychology, marketing and communications. Okun, a noted author and lecturer recognized for innovative business approaches, has been a major force in shaping the automotive industry for over 35 years and currently serves as an international consultant on best operating practices, business development, motivational marketing and strategic planning. Privately, he continues to pursue his longtime personal commitment towards community service.
Steve has over a decade of prior government leadership experience in municipal government, in addition to 6-years of County Planning Commission activity in Pennsylvania. His contributions earned praise from the State Senate and distinction in the U.S. Congressional Record.
Locally, Okun was a Board Member of Metamorphosis for Education, a Jupiter-Tequesta community-action group, and has served 8 years on the Tequesta Planning & Zoning Board prior to serving on Council. As a Council member, he focuses pro-active interest in marketing initiatives such as Village “branding” and enhanced public & community relations. Okun’s well-seasoned background in municipal emergency-services imparts staunch support of Tequesta’s continuing excellence in fire-rescue and police operations. An ardent animal-lover and proud owner of two rescued dogs, Okun continues uncompromising support for pet-rescue and safety initiatives in the Village — considering them extended family.
Bottom-Line: Steve pledges to preserve the safe, secure, and cozy “small village character” of Tequesta while, along with fellow councilors, safeguarding fiscal integrity with prudent money-management combined with an uncompromising commitment towards proficient delivery of high-quality public service to each and every Village resident.
