Tastes of Tequesta Tour Stop # 13
The thirteenth stop on Mayor Abby Brennan’s Tastes of Tequesta Tour was the Cypress Café, a small neighborhood restaurant that has provided breakfast and lunch to locals for over 20 years. Tucked away in a shopping plaza on Cypress Drive, most of its patrons are on a first name basis and talk animatedly about everything from national politics to the latest road project in the Village.
Abby was joined for breakfast by Tequesta resident and business owner Dr. Joi Sutton, whose veterinary clinic is literally a stone’s throw from the Cypress Café. Dr. Joi has been practicing veterinary medicine for over thirty years and opened the Tequesta Veterinary Clinic in September 2013. More information about Dr. Joi’s experience and practice can be found at www.tequestaveterinaryclinic.com
The breakfast menu at the Cypress Café features a variety of egg-based dishes including omelets, wraps, and sandwiches. Those with hearty appetites can order one of the café’s most popular specialties, the “Cypress Revenge,” which consists of three eggs, two pieces of bacon, two sausages, a slice of ham, and two short-stack pancakes. Other interesting choices include dishes prepared with grilled shrimp, smoked salmon and NY strip steak.
Dr. Joi opted for the “Swimsuit Omelet,” one of the Cypress Café’s lighter breakfasts, prepared with egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Abby selected an egg, cheese, and bacon breakfast sandwich served on an English muffin. The lunch menu is equally diverse and offers hot, grilled, and deli sandwiches, salads, and burgers. Customers can also take advantage of the café’s “Create A Plate” and customize their meal. .
The Cypress Café is a casual and friendly eatery where folks from all walks of life are welcome. For certain, you will never leave the Cypress Café feeling hungry!
